George Atkinson was born on 17 Jul 1791 in Fort Lawrence, Nova Scotia, Canada, son of Thomas A. Atkinson (1763–1851) and Ann Nancy McLellan (1769–1818).
George had a brother, Meracious Atkinson (1806–1867).
George (32) married Susanna Jones (22) (born about 4 Aug 1801 in Churston Ferrers, Devon, England; daughter of Thomas Jones and Susanna (Pitts) Jones) on 29 Jun 1824 in Amherst, Nova Scotia. Their known children were:
- Horatio Nelson Atkinson (1825–1905)
- Susanna Jones Atkinson (1834–1892)
- Richard John J Atkinson (1839–1881)
- Robert Henry Atkinson (1843–1903)
George died on 15 Jun 1853 in Kent County, New Brunswick, aged 61.[1]
