Biography

Thomas Attwood (–1684) of Biddestone was a blacksmith.^[1]

Thomas passed away in 1684, leaving behind a will that mentioned the following individuals:

Research Notes

• Thomas bequeathed his dwelling house in Biddestone to his son Thomas as well as his anvil and other tools related to his trade. He also bequeathed 22 shillings to his wife on the condition that she give the ring that was his other wife's to his executor, who is later said to be his son Thomas. Thomas recieved the rest of his estate.
• Thomas' second wife was probably Joane Bory as there is a marriage for a Thomas Atwood who married a Joane Bory on 18 May 1675 in Biddestone and that record is probably too late for that couple to have fathered Thomas' son Thomas (it would make him 15 at the birth of his known child in 1690 and he most likely had children before that date as there are children who married relatively early but for which baptisms are missing likely due to an incomplete parish register).^[2]
