Ruth Atwater, daughter of Jonathan, was born 31 Dec 1688 in New Haven, Connecticut.[1][2] She was baptized at the 1st Congregational Society of New Haven in 1689.[2] The index of church records says "s. Jnotha, bp dec. 16, 1688" which must be wrong.[3]
Ruth Atwater was admitted to the First church of New Haven 4 Feb 1704/5.[3] She was dismissed to the Church at North Haven in 1718?.[4] The first parish in North Haven was formed in 1716 and her husband Samuel was one of the first deacons in 1718. The church was a mainstay of the family. “The oldest cup was the gift of Miss Ruth Atwater of New Haven, afterwards the wife of Samuel Ives, deacon of Mr. Wetmore’s church, 1718. Dr. Trumbull, speaking of the donor says, “She was of the wealthy and respectable family of the Atwaters.” "[5]
Ruth married Samuel Ives on 3 Jan 1705 in New Haven, Connecticut,[2][1] by John Alling, assistant.[1]
Ruth Ives died 17 May 1758, ae 69 and was buried in the North Haven Cemetery[2][6][7]
