Elizabeth Sarah August was born in 1857 in Camberwell, Surrey, England to Edward August and Emma Matilda (Streek) August. Her birth was registered in Camberwell in the third quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Streek.[1]

In 1871 Elizabeth S August (age 13, Scholar) lived in Camberwell with her father Edward (41, Bankers Clerk), brother Edward J (15, Scholar), cousin Amy G Bearney (15, Scholar), and servant Eliza Holden (18).[2] Her mother Emma M (38) was visiting with relatives in Beckenham, Kent.
In 1881 Elizth S August (age 23) lived at Talfourd Rd in Camberwell with her father Edward (51, Bank Clerk), mother Emma M (48), brother Edward J (25, Bank Clerk), and servant Elizth Slaughter (28).[3]
In 1891 Bessie August (age 35[33]) lived in Lambeth, London with her father Edward (61, Bank Official), mother Emma M (58), brother Edward S (35, Bank Accountant), and servant Sarah Matt (29).[4]
In 1901 Elizabeth S August (age 43) lived in Lambeth with her father Edward (71, Retired Bank Official), mother Emma M (68), brother Edward J (45, Bank Inspector), and servant Florence B Mudd (30).[5]
In 1911 Emma M [Elizabeth S] August (age 53) lived in Norwood, Lambeth with her mother Emma M (78, Private Means) and servant Florence B Mudd (40).[6]
Elizabeth was a beneficiary of her mother's estate in 1917: "AUGUST Emma Matilda of 35 Hawke-road Upper Norwood Surrey widow died 23 April 1917 Probate London 7 June to Edward James August gentleman and Elizabeth Sarah August spinster. Effects £6507 13s. 10d."[7]
Elizabeth S August passed away on 12 Jun 1952, aged 94 years. Her death was registered in Lambeth in the second quarter of the year.[8]
"AUGUST Elizabeth Sarah of 16 Lunham-road Upper Norwood, Surrey spinster died 12 June 1952 Probate London 7 August to Mabel August widow [her sister-in-law] and Wyvil August member of the London Stock Exchange [her nephew]. Effects £7174 7s. 9d."[9]
