Biography

Barnabas was born in 1812. He passed away in 1898.
Barnhardt Aumen, one of the oldest citizens of this place, died at the home of his son, Frank, on York street, last Friday afternoon, of the infirmities due to old age. He was aged 85 years, 9 months and 26 days. The deceased was born in Germany, in which country he served four years in the army. He came to America in 1844. Mr. Aumen is survived by ten children, fifty-six grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren. His children living are Cornelius A., of York; Francis and William J., of this place; Edward A. and Sylvester B., of Littlestown; Mrs. Margaret Sauerwalt, and Lucinda, of Baltimore; Mrs. Maria Reinsel, of Lebanon; Mrs. Catherine Kuhn, of Germany township, and Mrs. Mary Murrin, of Mountpleasant township.
The funeral took place at 10 o'clock this morning, from the Catholic church at Littlestown, Very Rev. Father Crotty officiating. Interment in the Catholic Cemetery at that place.
