1854 Marries Thomas Cope on May 16th. ^{[3] [4]}

1860 Living in Farmington, Davie County, NC with husband, Thomas, and daughters, Sarah and Penelope. Also living with them are Andrew Cope and Mary Jane's sister, Cornelia. ^[5]

1870 Mary Jane and Thomas are stilling living in Farmington with daughters Sarah (age 14), Penelope (12) and Eliza (9). ^[6]
