Jesse was born in Scotts Hill, Tennessee, on 8 December 1830.[1] His parents were Morgan and Elizabeth (Jackson) Austin.Jesse married Mary Elizabeth Medlin about 1858.[2][3] The couple had several children.[4] Jesse's occupations according to the Census included working as a farmer, merchant, and blacksmith. Jesse died in Dallas, Texas, on 23 May 1916.[1]He is buried in Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas.[5]
