"Warland's Creek." The Scone Advocate (NSW : 1887 - 1954) 31 December 1907
Warland's Creek.
Death at Blandford. —The grim reaper Death was in our midst again last week, and carried off an old and esteemed resident in the person of Mrs. Mary Hartmann, who was widely and well known, and possessed a large number of friends, who as well as her family and relations, will deeply deplore her being called away. The esteem in which the departed was held was borne unmistakeable testimony to by the large numbers from all parts of the district who followed her remains to their last resting place in the Haydonton Cemetery on Friday afternoon last.
The late Mrs. Hartmann, who died on Thursday morning last, was the relict of the late Philip Hartmann, who predeceased her 19 years. For the past two years the deceased had been a great sufferer, but bore her troubles to the last with exemplary fortitude. The deceased lady was 63 years of age at the time of her death.
She was a native of Glennies' Creek, N.S.W., and had resided at Blandford for 50 years. Socially, she was of a quiet, retir-ng disposition, but those who knew her best were her warmest admirers, for only they could realise the goodness of her heart, and her many excellent characteristics.
The late Mrs. Hartmann leaves behind her 13 children and 52 grandchildren. The sons are: Thomas, Phillip, John, Joseph, Michael, Charles, and Ferdinand, and the daughters: Mrs. M. T. Rooney, Mrs. C. McGregor, Mrs. T. Walsh, Mrs. T. Sevil, and Miss. A. Hartmann.
The funeral was the most largely attended ever seen in the district of Murrurundi Blandford, 29th Dec, 1907.
