Biography

Obituary

Glen "Arnold" Baatz, 74, of Traverse City passed away January 12, 2014. Arnold was born on January 25, 1939 in Maple City to the late Robert and Margaret (Welch) Baatz. After graduating in 1957 from Glen Lake Community School, Arnold worked on the family farm for a few years before enlisting with the United States Airforce. Arnold was honorably discharged in December of 1965. Following his time in the service, Arnold began working for Chrysler after encouragement from his uncle Earl. He worked for Chrysler for 40 years prior to his retirment. In his spare time Arnold enjoyed being outdoors and hunting. He also cherished his new cars that he routinely purchased as a Chrysler employee. In February of 1972, Arnold married his wife Sally. She passed away in 1998. Arnold was also preceded in death by his brothers R.D., and Rod. Arnold is survived by his siblings, Grace Vert, Marjorie (Bob) Lessard, Gerrit Jonathon "Tim" Baatz, Gwen Durga, and Ruth "Sally" (Frank) Majszak, sister-in-laws June Baatz and JoAnn Baatz and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held in May, 2014 at 11:00 am at Empire United Methodist Church followed by graveside services at Rose Hill Cemetery.
