Ebenezer Badcock was the son of Benjamin Badcock and Mary Long.[1] He was called Ebenezer 2nd in the Windham community. Susan Dimock's transcription of early Coventry records shows Ebenezer was born a Badcock to father Benjamin Badcock. Ebenezer Badcock 2d, is noted as marrying Hannah Preston on August 26, Their children, all born as Badcock are seen on page 6 of Dimock's work. 1754[2] A page from the original Town Records confirms that Dimock's transcription was accurately reflecting the use of the Badcock spelling for this Ebenezer and all of his children. [3]
Ebenezer's marriage toHannah Preston on 26 Aug 1754 in Coventry is mentioned in Weaver's "History of Ancient Windham" in which all Badcocks and Babcocks are presented as Babcocks. Weaver notes 14 children for Ebenezer and Dimock notes 12. [4] They had 14 children together[5].

Looks like manager Chris is inactive and you are still active on wikitree. Hope you can correct the LNAB on various profile including this one that have persons born Badcock listed with a LNAB of Babcock. This is a common error seen in other forums, but on wikitree we are supposed to code the profile according to the actual LNAB not the typical spelling that the family later adopted. Hope you can help on the related profiles that show this inaccuracy. It's a very quick fix for the manager from the Edit field (LNAB box) and will really help other researchers especially with alignment with the Y DNA family study which shows the Massachusetts Badcocks are not closely related to the Westerly Babcocks as was speculated by the two great early researchers: Stephen Babcock and WS Appleton.
Hope you can address this quick fix in the name of accuracy!
Hello, R. Adams: Thank you for your message. It would help when you communicate if you do not use acronyms such as "LNAB." Right now, my research shows "Babcock" for this line used as far back as and further back than 1682. I will for now be leaving the last name for this profile and descendants as "Babcock."
I understand your concern. You may leave a link to the rule you reference, and I will review it.
His correct LNAB is BADCOCK, but only manager can change the edit box for this .
For his children who Americanized to the Babcock spelling their LNAB was BADCOCK, but current last name would be coded as BABCOCK. This helps identify the time in which each family line made the transition and is very helpful in research and in reducing duplicates. Hope the manager can amend any of them that were born Badcock.
