Andrew Backus has English ancestors.
Major Andrew Backus served with 21st Regiment, Connecticut Militia during the American Revolution.
Andrew was the son of Lieut. Samuel Backus and Elizabeth (Tracy) Backus. In 1763, he is mentioned in his brother, Simon Backus' will.[1]

Andrew married Lois Pierce - parents of Mary, Stephen, Thomas, Simon, Eunice and Lucy Backus
Per the inscription on Andrew's memorial stone, Andrew Backus died on 20 November 1796, age 67 years, and is buried at Old Plainfield Cemetery in Plainfield, Windham, Connecticut, USA: Find A Grave: Memorial #22005636 Andrew Backus
