John Bacon was born in Appalachia, in Tennessee.

John Bacon was born in 1777 in Washington, Tennessee. He was the son of Jonathan Bacon and Polly (Brown) Bacon.

John was buried after 11 September 1857 in Cherokee Baptist Church Cemetery, Jonesboro, Washington County, Tennessee.

Research Notes

Inscription on tombstone states that he was age 80 when he died.
Some sources have listed death date as 14 Sep 1857. Given the possible similarities between a worn numeral 4 on a tombstone and a 1, it is possible that this is why there is some discrepancy between sources.
