Not to be confused with James F Bacon of Jefferson New York in 1850. Private James F Bacon grew up in Chautauqua where he had been born in a family of 5 boys and 1 sister his parents James Sr. And Eliza his grave is not recorded in his family history. Private James Bacon Enlisted as a Private in Ridley County New York on August 30, 1862 when he was only 18 years old. He was Mustered into Company E Regiment was the 154th New York Volunteer Infantry. He was at Gettysburg on July 1 1863 where he was captured and sent to the Andersonville Prison as a POW . He died as a POW of disease on September 17 1864.
