When Marjarie Nancy Badger was born on December 7, 1906, in Newington, New Hampshire, her father, Daniel, was 41, and her mother, Edith, was 40. She married Edmund Arnold Tarbell and they had four children together. She then married John Bridgford Staley on March 2, 1960, in Arlington, Virginia. She died on June 24, 2003, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, at the age of 96, and was buried in her hometown.
