Biography

Samuel was born on 17th November 1840^[1][2] at Calverton, Nottinghamshire, England. He was the son of William Baguley and Mildred (Fletcher) Baguley, baptised at St Wilfrid's Church, Calverton on 15th December 1840.^[2]

He was recorded on the 1841 census at Calverton, living with his parents and sister.^[3]

The 1851 census shows Samuel, with his parents and siblings, living at Town Street, Calverton.^[4]

In 1861, he lived with his now widowed mother on Crookdole Lane, Calverton.^[5]

He married Sarah Maria Baguley at St Wilfrid's church, Calverton on 25th December 1864.^[6] Samuel was a bachelor, and a cottage of full age. The name and occupation of his father was left blank. Sarah was a spinster of full age and her father was John Baguley, stockinger. Witnesses were Thomas Baguley and Elizabeth Baguley.

On the 1871 census, Samuel & Sarah Maria lived on Crookdole Lane, Calverton, where Samuel farmed 55 acres. ^[7]

In 1881, Samuel and Maria were living at Carrington Houses, Calverton.^[8]

The 1891 census records Samuel and Maria at 8 Quarry Road, Bulwell, with a niece Sarah Collins.^[9]

On the 1901 census, Samuel and Maria are living at 78 Key Street, Basford, Nottinghamshire, where Samuel was a General Carter.^[10]

Samuel died in 1901, aged 60.^[11]
