Henry Gordon Bailey was born on 17 May 1893 in Ulmarra, New South Wales, Australia as the eleventh child of William Thorton Bailey Snr and Mary Ann Fernance. He had twelve siblings, namely: George, William Thornton Jnr, Emily Mary, Elizabeth, Mabel Susannah, Violet Ann, Christina Vida May, John Leonard, Charles Irwin, Malinda, Robert Lester, and Lurline. He died on 17 Jan 1969 in Pitt Town, New South Wales, Australia. When he was 19, he married Clara Letitia Martin, daughter of Thomas Martin and Lucy Emily Wood, on 03 Feb 1913 in Singleton, New South Wales, Australia.
