Biography

William was born on January 27, 1824 in Milford, Massachusetts to William Bailey and Anna Homer Tilton.[1] William married Alzina Ann Ball in Milford on June 1, 1845.[2] William and Alzina had a daughter Anna in 1846 who died in 1948. About a year later, their son William Henry Bailey was born, followed 7 years later by another son Walter George Bailey in 1849. A third son, Edward Martin Bailey, was born in August 1858 and a fourth son, Daniel Alton Bailey, was born in 1861.

On August 30, 1862, William volunteered for the Union Army, mustering with the 36th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment Company I in Worcester Massachusetts. [3]

Shortly after the war ended (Nov 1865), youngest son Alton died of diptheria. Youngest child Eva Bailey was born on 2 Apr 1867 but only lived seven months.

By 1870, William and Alzina had moved west with their two youngest sons Walter and Edward to Trail Creek, Missouri,[4] however they returned to Westborough, Massachusetts in late 1873, shortly after Alzina's mother Betsey Lincoln Ball died.

William died in 1893 at the age of 69.[5][6]
