William's date of birth is estimated from his marriage date.
William Baillie married, in 1634, Isobel Forbes, daughter of Duncan Forbes, first of Culloden, then described Duncan Forbes of Bught. In the same year Alexander, William's father, had all his lands confirmed by Royal charter. William Baillie was known as a great sportsman, musician, and composer in Gaelic.[1]
William was also affected by the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. His lands and houses were plundered and burned, for which he received reparation of 2000 merks Scots in 1647.[2] In 1648-1649, he was one of the commissioners on the committee of war for the sheriffdom of Inverness and Cromarty.[3]
William died in 1691.[1]
