Sarah was born in 1854 or 55 in England. Her marriage certificate gave her father's name as Thomas Baines.
The 1911 Census of Canada gave Sarah's year of immigration as 1906. There is also a 'sister' Mary Millican listed, age 32, immigration 1906. As a relative of the head of household, this would have been his sister-in-law, sister of Olive (Millican) Lindow.
In 1921, I believe Sarah was listed as Sarah Milligan, lodger age 67, born in England of English parents, immigration year 1905 and working as a "Cleaner". There is also a daughter Ida, lodger age 23, born in England with an immigration year of 1905. Ida was working as a Clerk.[1]
This daughter matches the child in the 1911 census who was age 13, born in England in Nov 1897 and immigrated circa 1906. In the 1911 census, Ida was listed as Lindoo, with her sister Olive's surname, rather than as a Millican, but she was also listed on the following page from the rest of the family. [2]
Sarah, widowed, died in 1932 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada just short of her 78th birthday. She had been living with her daughter Mary Millican on Roehampton Avenue and died in the Toronto General Hospital. Her date of birth is on this record. [3]
