Notes

Note N2201From the "Oakland Tribune," Oakland, California, May 23, 1915, p. 37,
"Engagement of Dorothy Baker
"Another very interesting engagement is that of Miss Dorothy Baker to George Hayes Willcutt of this city, which was announced at a large reception on Wednesday at Miss Baker's home on Spruce street.
"Rumers have been afloat for some time that when the good-looking young doctor finished his studies in the East, their engagement would be announced, for his devotion to the stately Dorothy has been more than noticeable for sometime past.
"She is the youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Livingston L. Baker, and a granddaughter of the Rev. A. L. Stone, one of California's most noted divines of three score years ago. Since her debut, about four years ago, Miss Baker has spend a great deal of her time in Europe, where she has traveled extensively, and where Dr. Wilcutt was studying medicine at the time the war broke out, when he was forced to leave and resume his studies in New York. Miss Baker is the sister of Helen Baker, now Mrs. Drummond McGavin, and of Philip, Herbert, and Leavitt Baker, and she is a step-sister of the late Wakefield Baker, who was the head of the firm of Baker & Hamilton after his father's death.
"Dr. Willcutt is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George B. Willcutt, who have lived at the El Drisco apartments on Pacific avenue, for several years. Mr. Willcutt holds a prominent position in the United Railroads. The wedding is to take place in the fall, and will be a large affair."
