Biography
George Baker was killed by Wheeler Raiders on 14 Sept, 1864 in Tenn. during United States Civil War.
George Washington Baker, born in 1805, was a native of Ashe Co. North Carolina. He was a Methodist minister, in addition to farming and merchandizing in Anderson county Tennessee, where in Aug. of 1841, he married Ann McAdoo[1], [2] an Anderson Co. native and daughter of John McAdoo III). Together they had at least six children, listed below.
George served as Register of Anderson Co., prior to the Civil war when as a sympethizer to the Federal Government, he was killed by a gang of Wheeler raiders in 1864. [2][3] He is buried in a small family cemetery in the woods off Dutch Valley Rd. in Anderson Co.[4]
