Biography

George was born in Ladoga, Montgomery Co., Indiana on October 25, 1848 to Joshua Baker and Elizabeth Noffsinger and passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 1918. [1]

George married his first wife, Fannie L. Beal, daughter of J C Beal and Polly Rice, on March 21, 1878 at the home of the Bride's father (Joseph C. Beal). [2] [3] [4]

After Fannie passed away on October 5, 1888 [5] George married his second wife, Jenny Ashby, daughter of James Clayton Ashby and Mary Francis Foster. [6]

Funeral of Pioneer Kansan to be Held at Baker Church Friday Afternoon

George W. Baker of Pottawatomie township died at his home on the farm six miles east of Princeton yesterday of cancer of the stomach. He is sur- vived by the widow and three children, J. Joe Baker of Fleet, Alberta, Can.; Franklin P. Baker of Princeton, and Mrs. Mary Carson of Forsyth, Mont. There are two surviving brothers, Frank A. Baker of Lane, and Joseph Baker of Greeley. He was a brother of the late Mrs. A. L. Lindgard. Mrs. Carson is now at the home near Princeton. It will be impossible for the son J. J. Baker of Fleet, to come for the the funeral. The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Baker church three miles west of Lane. The deceased had long been a member of the congregation. Burial will be in Baker cemetery. George W. Baker was born at La- doga, Ind., Oct. 25, 1848. He came to Kansas at the age of seven years and had lived in Pottawatomie township sixty-three years. He was married to Miss Fannie Beal in 1878. Her death occurred in 1888. He was married again to Miss Jennie Ashby who sur- vives. [1]
