George Balcom Died of Disease during The United States Civil War.
Pvt. George Balcom was living in Portland, Wisconsin when he enlisted with the Union Army on 21 August 1862. He was mustered into Company A, 29th Regiment, Wisconsin Infantry.[1][2]
Pvt. Balcom died from disease at Milliken's Bend, Louisiana on 29 April 1863. He was originally buried in Louisiana. He was reinterred in the Vicksburg National Cemetery, Section A, 2973.[3]
Family
In 1860, George Balcom age 20, 1840, born New York, living in Portland, Wisconsin was living with the Wetmore family, occupation farm laborer.[4]
George's family is unproven.
