John Baldwyn was baptised at Munslow, Shropshire, 25 July 1667: “John son of Mr. Rich: Baldwin, junior, & Mary”. [1]
He matriculated at Balliol College, Oxford, 20 March 1684/5, aged 17, as son of Richard Baldwin of Munslow, gent. [2]
He was named in the 1688 will of his paternal grandfather Richard Baldwyn of Munslow, as “my grandson John Baldwyn eldest son to my son Richard Baldwyn deceased”. [3]
He also appeared in the 1706 will of his aunt Joyce Baldwin of Shrewsbury, as “my cousin John Baldwyn of Munslow my sister Mary Baldwyns sonn”. [4]
He was buried at Ludlow, Shropshire, 13 March 1722/3, as Mr. John Baldwyn. [5]
His memorial inscription on a brass plate at Ludlow, describing him as formerly of Munslow, read as follows: “Iohannes Baldwyn nuper de Munslow Gen Obijt Mar 11th 1722/3 Aetat. 56. - Non pietas moram rugis et instanti senectae Afferet indomitaeque morti”. [6]
Administration for John Baldwyn of Ludlow was granted to Mary Baldwyn, 27 August 1723. [7]
