Biography

Richard Bane is a member of Clan MacBean.

Richard Bean (Bane?) is the son of John Bean and his second wife, Lydea (Baldwin?) Bean. Richard is the grandson of William and Margaret Bean.

Richard's older brothers, John, William, George, Thomas and his sister, Ann were children of his father's first wife. Richard's mother Lydea was much younger than her husband and became the step-mother to children older than she was.

John Bean, Richard's father, died circa 1775. Lydea married Moses Pullen and moved to Bedford, Virginia, taking Richard, who would have been a toddler with them.

Richard served in the Revolutionary War and his pension file number is S14938. It is not known when he changed the spelling of his last name, but his military records show both Bean and Bane. (Both names are pronounced like Bane, so the person recording the records is the one who may have written it for him.)

On April 22, 1779, in Amherst County, Virginia, Richard married Nancy Ann Phillips, daughter of John Phillips and Sarah (?nee) Phillips of Mason County, Kentucky. Richard's last name on his marriage record is spelled Bean.

Richard and Nancy Ann had nine children. Of the nine, Lawson Bean and Permelia Bean were not mentioned in his Will, dated August 11, 1840, so they are assumed to have died before then.

Richard died at the age of about 89 between 1842 and 1843 in , Lewis, Kentucky, United States.

Bad dates - may have skipped a generation - if he was born in 1752, and his mom in 1679 she would have been 73!
