Mary Bankes was a daughter of Thomas Bankes, Citizen and Barber Surgeon of London, and his wife Joan Lawrence. She was named as the wife of Richard Deane in her father's 1595 Will. [1]
In the 1630 Will of her brother John Bankes [2] she was named as deceased, with bequests left to her daughters:
John Bankes also named his brothers-in-law as executor and overseers of his Will, notably naming Sir Richard Deane, knight.
In the Will of Sir Richard Deane [3] He named his daughters and their husbands:
It would seem that his daughter Mary, married to an unknown Goodwin, had died between 1630 and 1635, an the daughter Catherine or Katherine, unmarried in 1630, had married John Goodwin - perhaps a kinsman. The only grandchild named was Deane Goodwin, who appears to be designated as the primary heir to the estate.
According to Sir Richard Deane's Will, he had remarried during that interval, to a woman named Rechard, surname undisclosed.
