William Henry Banthorp of Ashbocking near Ipswich was a British Subject, a yard and gardener, in a military record in 1914 enlisting in the Suffolk Regiment. He joined in Saxmunden, his service number was 12849 he served 4 years 203 days. His description was; he was 19 and 5 montha, 5ft5in, 132½ ibs. with a fresh complexion blues eyes and dark brown hair, his religion was CofE.^[5]

William Henry Banthorpe of 178 London Rd, Cheltenham, died on 17 November 1985 in Cheltenham and their estate not exceeding £4000.00 passed probate on 17 December 1985 in Llandaff.^[6]
