Biography

William's birth was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1896 in the Bosmere district.[1]

In the 1901 census, William (age 5) was the son of William and Sarah Cranmore Banthorfes in Ashbocking, Suffolk, England.[2]

In the 1911 census, William (age 15), Farm Lad, was the single son of William Banthorpe at Walmet Tree Farm, Benhall, Saxmundham, Benhall, Suffolk, England.[3]

William Banthorpe (corrected from Bagthorpe) from Walnut Tree Farm, was in a military record in Binhall Saxmundhan. They were in the L.c., (M.r), (S.r) (service number 155462, 12849, 80797). (stamped Dead 19 May 1927) [4] Transcribed from Original:

William Henry Banthorp of Ashbocking near Ipswich was a British Subject, a yard and gardener, in a military record in 1914 enlisting in the Suffolk Regiment. He joined in Saxmunden, his service number was 12849 he served 4 years 203 days. His description was; he was 19 and 5 montha, 5ft5in, 132½ ibs. with a fresh complexion blues eyes and dark brown hair, his religion was CofE.[5]

William Henry Banthorpe of 178 London Rd, Cheltenham, died on 17 November 1985 in Cheltenham and their estate not exceeding £4000.00 passed probate on 17 December 1985 in Llandaff.[6]
