Biography

Horace was born about 1886.^[1] He is the son of Robert Bardy and Betsy Johnson.

In 1901 he was recorded in the census living with his paretal family in Carlton Street in York. He was aged 14 and working as a confectionery packer.^[2]

He married Ethel Jackson in York in 1910.^[3]

In 1911 he was recorded in the census as married and working as a cocoa maker in York.^[4]

In 1919, he entered to the United States of America, having previously emigrated to Canada on 27 April 1926 with his wife Ethel. They had entered Canada in Quebec on the S.S. Montrose. They had lived at 497 Shaw Street, Toronto. They entered the USA on 26 February 1929 at Buffalo, New York. He had paid his own way and was listed as Candy Maker aged 42 years 5 months. He was looking for work and only planned to stay a day. He was listed as 5ft 9 inches in height, of fair complexion with light brown hair and blue eyes.^[5]

The 1940 US Census lists him and his wife, Ethel, and son, Peter, H. living at 23 Olive Avenue, Malden, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. They owned the house valued at $4300. Joseph was a wholesale confectionery superintendent earning $2340paand Peter was wholesale soap prodcuts salesman earning $1800pa. Malden is a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts.

He received his draft registration card in 1942. He was working for Daggett Chocolate Co. on 408 Mains St, Cambridge Mass.

Died 10 July 1967 and buried in Forest Dale Cemetary in Malden Mass. Section 3 Lot 152, Grave 2^[6]
