Lewis was born in 1770. He was the son of Lewis Barge and Mary Potterfield. He passed away on 30 Apr 1831 in Campbell Co., GA. At the time of his death, this part of Fulton Co. was known as Campbell Co.
His birth year is uncertain -- some sources have 1870 and some 1780. His mother is also uncertain. Some sources have her listed as Mary Kelly Portfield and other have Christiana Unknown, his father's second wife as his mother.[1]
He married Elizabeth "Mary" Wilcox abt 1793 in North Carolina. She is thought to be the daughter of John Willcox (1728-1793) and his wife Rebecca Butler (1733-1808)
It appears that Lewis and Elizabeth had no children. His wife's will mentions the following people: Charley Jones as Executor, her sister, Rebecca Wilcox Mitchel, a niece Harriett Burns, a friend Delphinia Campbell, Mrs Sally McIver, Rachel Barge, Edward W Barge, her brohters, John and Thomas.[2]
He lived in North Carolina until 1800 [3]. Sometime that year, he moved to Georgia with his brothers and died in 1881.
He is buried in Owl Rock Methodist Cemetery.[4] Some family researchers have that he died 24 Jul 1830 at his plantation in Robeson.[5] Needs research.
No children found.
