John Barker MP (abt. 1532 - 1589)

Biography

John Barker was born about 1532, son of Robert Barker of Ipswich in Suffolk and his first wife, a lady of the King or Kempe family. ^[1][2]

He married Willamina Bomart, daughter of John Bomart of Brabant. ^{[1] [2]} She was mother of three sons, Robert, John and William, and two daughters, Margery and the other un-named. ^[1]

His second wife was Ann Herdson, daughter of Henry Herdson or Hudson, Alderman of London, and his wife, Barbara Watson. She was widow of George Stoddard. ^{[2] [3]}They appear not to have had any children. ^[2]

He was first returned to Parliament in 1584 as member for Ipswich and took the seat again in 1586, and 1589, ^[4] the year of his death. ^[2]

Research note

The Visitation of Suffolk makes Anne Herdeson a daughter of the Banks family.^[1] Temporarily discounted.
