Grover Philip Barkman passed away with spinal meningitis at Akron, Ohio, aged 39 years, 11 months and 23 days. Deceased was a son of Joseph Barkman, living, and Mary Mills Barkman, deceased, and served some time as a private in Co. A, 30th Infantry both in this country and in France from November 11th, 1918 to August 6th, 1919, and was discharged from service on August 25, 1919.
Deceased is survived by his father, and the following brothers and sisters: Scott, Robert of New York, Tom of Akron, Ohio, Lizzie, at home, Grace, of Philadelphia and Estella, wife of Ira Clabaugh of Archer, Iowa. The funeral services were held on Sunday, February 8th at Rock Hill church, Monroe Township. Interment was made in Rock Hill Cemetery. (Source: Bedford Gazette, February 13, 1920)[1]
