Biography

Eda was born in 1894 in Utah Territory, the daughter of James and Anna Barlow.

In 1900, Eda was 6 years old. Her family lived in Richfield, Sevier, Utah. The household included James Barlow, 51, born Oct 1849 in England, whose parents were born in England. James immigrated to the US in 1853, and was a naturalized Citizen. He was a farmer, who owned his farm with a mortgage; and his wife Annie C., 40, b. July 1860 in Denmark, whose parents were born in Sweden. She immigrated to the US in 1873, and was a naturalized Citizen. James and Annie had been married 22 years, and had had eleven children, five of whom were living. Also living with them were their five children, all born in Utah: Annie C., 21, b. Jan 1879; James O., 19, b. Jan 1881, a laborer; Mabel O., 10, b. Jan 1890; Eda A., 6, b. March 1894; and Elvina L., 1, b. July 1899; and james Sr.’s mother, Catherine Barlow, 73, b. March 1827 in England, whose parents were born in England. Catherine had had nine children, seven of whom were living. All members of the household 10 and older could read and write, except for Catherine, who could read but could not write. [1]

In 1920, Anna lived in Richfield, Utah. The household included James, 70, born in England, a naturalized US Citizen, whose parents were born in England, a farmer who owned their property free and clear; Anna C., 59, born in Denmark, a naturalized US Citizen, whose parents were born in Sweden; their two unmarried daughters: Mabel O., 28, born in Utah, a bookkeeper; and Edith (Eda) A., 25, born in Utah, a student. Also living with them was James and Anna’s 22 month old grandson, Raymond L. Barlow, born in Utah. The family home was located on East 4th North (Street). [2]
