Biography

Solon was born in 1812. He was the son of William Barnes and Christina Frazier. Sources give his year of death as 1880 or 1895. No specific dates nor sources have yet been found.

Research Notes

• a Charles L Robbins, grandson of Solon, has written a sketch of his grandfather based on recollections of his mother and Solon's daughter, Julia (Robbins) Barnes. Those notes indicate Solon was first married to Rebecca McDaniels, in Dayton, Ohio, and the couple had three children - Mary, who died young, a son William, who was taken away to Kansas by family after the death of his mother, and James Washington Barnes. The sketch also says that Solon and Rebecca Trout had twelve children, ten living to adulthood. That sketch can be seen at the IAGenWeb site for Fayette County, here [2]
