Margaret "Peggy" was the sister of Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Barnett, who was married to James Baxter Pierson. James fathered three children with Peggy Barnett while married to Sarah.

From Ancestry.com: This notation was made and attached to her photo: Peggy was the daughter of James Barnett, Jr. and Jane Williams. She was born in 1844, on Big Ridge, Scott County, Virginia. She is buried at Barnett Cemetery on Big Ridge, the date of her death is not known. Photo is the property of Jean Brand. This lady in the photo was believed to be Indian (Cherokee I think). In the original picture you can see some beads she wore all the time and they do look Indian She was believed to have been abandoned as a small child, found by the Barnett's and raised as their daughter.
