Biography

Christopher Barnewall was born about 1522, probably at Turvey, Dublin the son of Patrick Barnewall and his wife Anne Luttrell. ^[1]

Sir Christopher Barnewall of Turvey was high sheriff of со. Dublin in 1560;

He married Marian Sherle, daughter of Patrick Sherle, of Shallon, со, Meath, and sister and heiress of John Sherle. ^[1]

Sir Christopher built the now destroyed mansion at Turvey and dying in 1575,

   1. a son Sir Roger Barnewall who m Alison, dau of Christopher 2nd Lord Trimleston, and dying was succeeded by his son,
      
      1. Sir Patrick Barnewall of Fieldston, Gracedieu, and Turvey. On 7 October 1534 he was made serjeant-at-law and solicitor general, and on 1 October 1550, Master of the Rolls. By his marriage with Anne, eldest dau of Richard Luttrell, of Luttrellstown, he left issue (with three daus., the eldest of whom became the wife of Sir Patrick Barnewall of Crickstown), a son and successor.
