Biography

Arthur William Barott was born on May 20, 1895[1] in Columbus, Anoka, Minnesota, to Herbert L Barott and Ann Boehn.[2] He was of medium height and build, with gray eyes and brown hair.[1]

In 1900, his family, including his parents and four siblings, were living in Columbus, Anoka, Minnesota.[3] By 1910, he had nine siblings living with him in the same place.[4] As a young adult, he worked as a farm laborer, and had poor eye sight.[1] He served in WWI as a Corporal in the Company E 109 Infantry.[5]

At the time of the 1920 census, he is living with his uncle, Frank A. Bachus, on St. Paul and Kettle River Road in Columbus, Anoka, Minnesota.[6] He was married to Agnes Josephine Peterson on April 24, 1920, in Minneapolis, Anoka, Minnesota.[2]

By 1930, the couple, along with three of their children, were settled in Lindstrom, Chisago, Minnesota, where he worked for the mill.[7] By 1935, and through 1940, he and his wife, along with five children, were still living in Lindstrom, on Sylvan Avenue, where he was the proprietor of the feedmill.[8]

At the time of the "old man's draft" in 1942, he was still here, and registered as being 5'11" tall and 185 pounds, with gray eyes, brown hair, and a light complexion.[9]

He died on June 4, 1965, in Otter Tail, Minnesota.[10][11] He is buried in Fairview Cemetery in Lindstrom, Chisago County, Minnesota.
