Abstract: Thomas Barron and Calbeck Barron, minor children of William H. Barron and Leianah Barron, state that Thomas Mason conveyed to Hendley Barron, by deed of trust, three slaves, Daphne, Anna and James, "for the benefit and interest and behoof of" the petitioners. When Hendley Barron died and no new trustee was named, their father, William H. Barron, took possession of the slaves. An advertisement in the "National Intelligence" on 11 February 1824 reported that Daphne was seized as the property of William H. Barron and will be sold to satisfy a debt owed by Barron to Romulus Riggs and George R. Gaither. The petitioners, "in danger of having their property sold wrongfully & as the property & for the debt of another," ask for an injunction preventing the sale of Daphne.
