Meeker Green Lee^[1] Barrow was born 12 Jul 1874^[1][2] in Conecuh County, Alabama,^[3] died 22 Dec 1952 in Greenville, Alabama.^[4] and was buried in Fairmount Baptist Church Cemetery in Red Level, Alabama.^[5][6]

He married his first wife Evvie Ealum in Covington County, Alabama on 25 Nov 1902.^[7] Evvie was born 12 Oct 1874 and died 06 Mar 1909.^[8] She is buried in Long Branch/Cohassett Cemetery in the Barrow family plot where her tombstone reads:

He married his second wife Leona Victoria Parker^[8] in Covington County, Alabama on 14 Sep 1912^[10] and in 1918 the couple were living in Cohassett in Conecuh County, Alabama and Meeker was described as being of medium height and build with blue eyes and light hair.^[1]

Meeker and Leona had the following known children:

1. Katherine Olene Barrow born in Alabama^[11][12] 04 Mar 1917 and died 01 Aug 1965^[8] in Glenwood, Crenshaw County, Alabama.^[13] She was first married to an Engel and had a son Charles R. Engel who was born in Alabama about 1940.^[14] She was last married to James^[13] K. Jackson.^[8]
2. Meeker Denzil "Teddy Bear' Barrow born in Alabama^[11] 15 Jan 1919,^[8][12][14] died 18 May 2009 and is buried in Fairmount Baptist Church Cemetery, Red Level, Alabama.^[15][16]

Barrow Rites At Red Level

Lumberman Dies in Greenville Infirmary, Burial At Fairmount

Meeker Green Barrow, 78, Red Level lumberman, died in a Greenville hospital late Monday night, December 22, following an illness of several months. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Red Level.

Funeral Services were held from teh First Baptist Church of Red Level Wednesday morning, December 2, with Rev. N. A. Hayes, Rev. D. S. Stephens, Rev. warren Nutt, and Rev A. W. Saffold officiating. Interment was in th Fairmount Cemetery.

Music was by a mixed choir, accompanied by Mrs. June Foshee. Pallbearers were Herman Huggins, Homer Huggins, H. T. Huggins, L. D. Foshee, V. C. Parkerk, and C. B. Hall. The choir served as flower bearers.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lavania Barrow of Red Level, a son M. D. Barrow of Red Level; a daughter Mrs. J. K. Jackson of Birmingham, 2 grandchildren, and 1 sister Mrs. Effie Huggins of Georgiana. Foreman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.^[17]

    Meeker "Teddy" Barrow (January 15, 1919 - May 18, 2009)

    Mr. Meeker Denzil "Teddy" Barrow, age 90, of Red Level, died Monday May 18, 2009 in an Andalusia hospital. Graveside services will be at 11 AM Wednesday May 20th at the Fairmount Cemetery with Rev. Clyde Northrop and Rev. Drexel Copeland will officiate. Visitation will be at 9:30 AM Wednesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

    Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sara Barrow, of Red Level, his daughter and son-in-law Ramona Barrow Barlow and husband Steve of Andalusia, his grandchildren Steven Barrow Barlow, James Meeker Barlow, and Sarah Catherine Barlow.

    Mr. Barrow was born in Conecuh County Alabama and moved to Red Level when he was 6 years old. He attended and graduated from Red Level school. After high school he got his pilot's license and then attended college at The University of Texas. He enlisted in the US Navy when World War II broke out. He attended UCLA for a while and then served his country in the Pacific theatre. After the war, Mr. Barrow returned to Red Level and started a successful mercantile business. He later founded Barrow Furniture Company and ran it until his retirement in 1979. Mr. Barrow was a member of Red Level Baptist Church for most of his life.
