WINTHROP - Warren A. Barter Sr., 65, of Stanley Road, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at the VA Hospital at Togus. He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 17, 1945, the son of Eden and Evelyn (Frost) Barter.
He attended Mount Vernon schools and was drafted into the Army, serving in Korea during the Vietnam War.
He worked as a logger for Mace Lumber in Readfield for many years, and most recently worked with his son running the dairy farm in Readfield. Warren enjoyed being with his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Edward Barter and Charlie Barter; and a sister, Sharon Sawyer.
He is survived by a son, Warren A. Barter Jr., and his wife, Linda, of Readfield; a daughter, Julie A. Barter, and her partner, Peter Lucas, of Readfield; a brother, Roger Barter; four sisters, Rebecca Webster, Geraldine French, Diane Christensen and Lois Daggett; five grandchildren, Warren A. Barter III, Kristie J. Barter, John Bourque, Jason Bergeron and Jaimee Laney; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Burial with military honors will be held in Glenside Cemetery in Winthrop at a later date.[1]
