In the 1851 Census, Ellen (aged 20) was living in Motcombe Street, Motcombe, Dorset, England and working as a Domestic Servant. [2] She was living with her widowed father William Barter who was working as a Labourer, and her sister Lydia Barter (aged 14). Also in the household was the grandson of William Barter, Levi Barter (aged 7). Levi was the son of Ellen's sister Mary.
Ellen married Henry Parsons on 8 November 1860 in Motcombe, Dorset, England. [3]
