Charles S. Barthalow died at the home of Daniel Rotz near Knobsville on October 11, 1939. His death was due to cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Barthalow was a son of Joseph & Sarah (Leasure) Barthalow, being born at Bedford, Pa., July 2, 1872. At the time of his death he was aged 59 years, 3 months and 9 days. He was twice married. His first wife was Olive Bell Paylor. Two children to this union are deceased, Martha E. and Henry Barthalow; He was married in 1902 to Dora Alda Bishop who survives with the following children: Bessie, wife of John Gordon of Big Cove Tannery; George Bathalow of Gaplin, Md., Mary, wife of Luther Werdebaugh of Terra Alta, W. Va., John Barthtalow of Burnt Cabins; Edith, wife of Otto Clark; Virgil Barthalow, Howard Barthalow, Luther Barthtalow and Bertha, wife of Joseph Thomas all of McConnellsburg; Ruth, wife of Robert Everetts of Needmore; twenty-four grandchildren and one brother Henry Barthalow of Warton, Md., also survive. To the union he was preceded in death by the following children Jamina, Henry, William and Denton. Funeral services were held on Friday, October 13, at 2 p.m. at Antioch by Brother A.M. Niswander and Brother Edward Wingert of Greencastle. The body was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
