Stephen Bartlett, a well known old resident, died at his home, 263 Fletcher Street last evening, aged 73 years. He was for many years an employ on the Lawrence Corporation as an overseer and in other capacities. Quite a number of years since he suffered a stroke of partial paralysis, from which he has been partially crippled, although able to be out a large portion of the time. At one time he took considerable interest in politics, as a Democrat, and he was in the common council in 1855. After leaving the employ of the Lawrence Company he started in business at his trade as a carpenter. Deceased was unusually well informed, and as a member of different societies in the city thirty or forty years, showed himself to be a debater of much ability. He was a frequent speaker at political meetings in his younger days. Mr Bartlett leaves three sons and a daughter, his sons being Edwin W Bartlett, foreman of Hook and Ladder No 2, Stephen E., foreman of Hose No. 9, and Daniel Boody Howe Bartlett.
He is buried in Edson Cemetery in Lowell, along with his wife.[6]
