Seth Maxwell Barton was a United States Army officer and then a Brigadier General in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. Graduate of the United States Military Academy in 1849. Joined the 3rd Arkansas Infantry as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1861. Promoted to Brigadier General in 1862. After the war, he became noted as a chemist.[1]
Son of Thomas Bowerbank Barton and Susan Catherine Stone. Husband of Marianne Jenifer. Seth passed away in 1900. Final resting place in Fredericksburg Cemetery, Fredericksburg, Virginia.[2]
