1795 May 26: In a petition dated Milford, May 26, 1795, Archelaus Batchelder stated "that he was grievously wounded in the service of the United States in the time of the late war." He stated that he expected to be placed on the pension list, and asked the legislature to intercede in favor of his being granted arrears. Israel Hutchinson's regiment, served as 1st Lt for one year in Trenton Battle, soon after returned to my town in Danverse, Massachusetts; in that year he was offered captain but due to poor health declined; After this I volunteered under John Stark and was in Bennington Battle where I was wounded which was the last of my services in the Revolutionary war; now in my 74th year of age & feeble & have no real estate; attest Uziel Batchelder of Milford; March 1818
