Soldier Jonas Bateman served with Middlesex County Militia, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

  • John Bateman, son of Jonas Bateman and Elisabeth, his wife, was born March 4, 1759.[3]
  • Elisabeth Bateman, daughter of Jonas Bateman & Elisabeth, his wife, was born February 17, 1762.[4]
  • Molly daughter of Jonas Bateman & Elisabeth, his wife, was born March 6, 1766.[5]
  • Jonas Bateman, son of Jonas Bateman & Elisabeth, his wife, was born November 21, 1769.[6]
  • Jonas Bateman's name in a list of those detached to Col Brooks in 1776, and in list of men in attendance at capture of Gen. Burgoyne, in list of men credited with 8 mos service, no rank given. Jonas wrote a will 24 June 1806 (2 full pages) Jonas Bateman names wife Abigail, eldest son John Bateman the estate he now possesses, son Jonas half of a farm in Harvard where he now lives, daughter Elizabeth (wife of Emerson) Cogswell, daughter Mary (Jonathan) Hoar, son-in-law Jonathan and a grandson Nathan Buttrick. Both Jonas and Abigail sign the document, Abigail's note in it says it has her approbation. Named Nehemiah Flint of Concord as sole exe.

Funeral expenses to be paid out of property given the two daughters, said property to be that of grandson Nathan.
