Biography

Lemuel was born in 1734. He was the son of Benjamin Bates and Rebecca Ager.[1]

In 1750, he made the choice of his father, to be the guardian of the estate he inherited from his uncle Eleazer Bates.[2]

He married Lucretia Lincoln on 28 May 1761 in Abington.[3]

He passed away in 1794.

Probate

Lemuel Bates of Abington, yeoman died intestate and on 4 December 1794, Eleazer Bates 2d was granted the administration of his estate.[4]

His inventory was taken on 2 January 1795 in Abington.[5]

In 1795, an account of his estate was recorded which included debts collected, debts paid, provisions for the family, and administration fees.[6]

In 1796, his widow Lucretia received her dower, and the remaining estate was set out to Lemuel Bates, Eleazer Bates, Robert Bates, Seth Bates, John Bates, and Elizabeth Bates.[7]
