Sarah has a profile on Family Search[1] however, some of the information listed there is not accurate. There is another Sarah Ann Bates that was born around the same timeframe but the other Sarah was born in Indiana and married Andrew McCormack. Sources on Family Search are mixed between the two Sarah's. For instance, we know that this Sarah is listed with her parents on the 1850 Census[2] in Bedford, Virginia where she married Charles Wesley Witt in December of 1854. We know that they had a daughter; Eliza J. Witt in September of 1858.[3] The census report for Sarah McCormack for 1860 in Indiana and the Find-a-Grave Memorial attached for May of 1863 cannot be correct because no records indicate that this Sarah was ever in Indiana and although the 1860 Census for her has not been located she is listed on the 1870 Census in Virginia with her husband Charles and six children which is proof that she did not pass away in 1863 nor was she married to Andrew:
