Biography

In the 1901 Census, he is living with the family in the School House, Little Aston, Shenstone, Lichfield. Father George is listed as "Elementary School Master".

In 1903 (Aged 8) his Father died.

In the 1911 Census he is shown as a Boarder at St Cuthbert's Colledge (a minor Public School for Boys) at Sparken Hill, Worksop, Nottinghamshire.

During WW1 he enlisted with the West Riding Regiment (Service No 2362) as a Private. He is then listed as a Corporal in the same Regiment (Service No 304474).

As a supplement to the London Gazette Dated 23 May 1917 he is shown as being Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant into the West Yorkshire Regiment, effective from 26 April 1917 (Later documentation shows this as the 18th Battalion). Shortly afterwards he Joined the RFC (Royal Flying Corps) and he remains when the RAF is officially formed on 1st April 1918. His RAF record shows that on the 25th October 1918 he was promoted to Lieutenant. This same record shows that on 5th Feb 1919 he was transferred to the Unemployed list (Demobbed).

In 1920 he married Florence Stonier.

The 1939 Register shows him living with Wife Florence and Family at: Duncot, Greenshill Road, Whitstable U.D. Kent. His occupation is shown as "Assistant Schoolmaster" and there is a note showing him as "Lieut RAF Retired".

He died in 1948 but "age at death" was miss-recorded as 51 when he was in fact 52/53.
