Ernest was the illegitimate son of Alice Beal. He was brought up by Sarah Ann (nee Womack) and Frank Beal who had no children of their own - Margaret Womack telephone conversation 1/5/2018.
The mother's maiden name is omitted from the GRO birth index and therefore from the birth registration. So it is likely that Ernest was illegitimate.
There are no birth registrations for Beal / Womack in the years 1906 - 1916 which lends weight to Sarah Ann (nee Womack) and Frank Beal had no children of their own.
In 1939 he was a General Farm Worker at the address of Frank and Sarah Beal at 1 Stephen Lane, Wortley.
