Biography

The son of Francis Beard and Jane (Bradford) Beard, James Beard was born in Williamson County, Tennessee^{[citation needed]} in 1860, residing with his family in District 1.^[1][2]

James married Sarah (DeFoe) Beard, marrying in Hickman County, Tennessee on March 12, 1882.^[3] He was 27 and she was 37.

Widowed just three months later, James remarried, marrying Martha Jane (Anglin) Beard, the daughter of James Daniel Anglin and Martha Melinda Barnhill, marrying in Williamson County, Tennessee on March 16, 1895^[4] and having six children together. They made their home in Civil District 1 of Williamson County, farming a plot that was alongside those of his father and two of his brothers.^[5][6][7] By 1930, they had moved to Hardin County, Kentucky, residing in Magisterial District 1, farming.^[8] Besides James and his wife, his household that year included residing his widowed daughter, Maggie Beard, and her daughter, Lillie Pearl.^[9]

James Beard passed away in Elizabethtown, Kentucky^[10][11] at the age of 81 and is buried at Elizabethtown City Cemetery.^[12]
